Starting Them Young at Atekelab's Mobile Education Lab

One of the top challenges identified by many in the local technology scene is introducing young people to technology, coding and computer education. Entrepreneur and former municipal councillor Kim Desveaux heard it so often she began to formulate a business case to solve the problem. Join us at our next TecSocial on Thursday, November 6, to hear the story behind the creation of Atekelab

Atekelab offers mobile technology classes, including robotics using Lego WeDo and Lego Mindstorms as well as Learn to Code using MIT's Scratch program. The program is offered after school, evenings and weekends in Glace Bay, New Waterford, Sydney, Coxheath and North Sydney. The classroom is a state-of-the-art computer lab on wheels, which prior to transforming to Atekelab was a mobile health clinic in Colorado.

Atekelab programs have been running for over a month now with rave reviews from students and parents. Bring a friend to TecSocial to learn more and meet the passionate people behind the business.

TecSocial is a monthly meeting for those with an interest in technology and entrepreneurship. It is a free event and is open to the public. A cash bar will be available and door prizes and appetizers (limited quantities) are compliments of our partners, Innovacorp and Membertou Trade & Convention Centre.
