Oceanside Communication Holdings Inc., a Sydney-based business group with extensive experience in cable television and high speed internet service, has purchased Seaside Communications and Seaside Wireless from the family of the late Irving Schwartz.

Loran Tweedie, Chief Executive Officer of Seaside will talk about the purchase and some of the plans in store by the new ownership group.

Seaside Communications was established in 1975 and provides cable TV, telephone and high speed internet service to more than 11,000 customers in Glace Bay, New Waterford, Marion Bridge, Louisbourg, St. Peter's and Baddeck.  Seaside Wireless was established in 2008 and is the leading provider of high speed internet service in rural Nova Scotia.  It services nearly 10,000 customers in rural parts of Halifax, Cumberland, Colchester, Pictou, Antigonish, Guysborough, Inverness, Victoria, Richmond and Cape Breton Counties under the province's Broadband for Rural Nova Scotia program.

The two companies together employ more than 100 people, including many with advanced technical skills, in Cape Breton and Northern Nova Scotia.  The new owners plan extensive investment to improve network capacity and product offerings in both the cable and wireless divisions.

The new owner group includes Loran Tweedie as CEO, Martin Chernin as president, Eric Schibler will be the company's secretary.  Craig Tweedie and David Alexander will serve as directors. Brothers Loran and Craig are sons of the late Hugh Tweedie, who was instrumental in negotiating the sale before his death last year.  David Horton, who was the General Manager of Seaside, will continue as Chief Operating Officer.

Loran has extensive experience in real estate and cable TV operations.  He is active in the community serving as director and advisor to numerous boards.  He is a business graduate of St. Francis Xavier University.
