Presenter: Gavin Uhma

Thursday, October 7, 2010
5:00pm - 7:00pm
Membertou Trade & Convention Centre (map)

October's TecSocial will feature a presentation by Gavin Uhma. Gavin will talk about the Facebook gaming industry and the various opportunities that exist there. He will start with a brief intro of the development and server technologies, followed by an overview of the users, monetization strategies, competition and current opportunities.

Known to pull frequent all-nighters when in the development groove, Gavin has been programming and tinkering with internet technologies since 1999. After graduating from CBU with a degree in information technology, he worked as a game developer for Techlink Entertainment (www.techlinkentertainment.com). He became increasingly interested in the future of social networking and began developing Facebook applications as a hobby. In 2009, Gavin was instrumental in building a development team and game engine for a social gaming start-up Slightly Social (www.slightlysocial.com), as project manager and lead developer. Gavin is currently venturing on his own to develop various amazing [sic] product ideas.

Gavin promises to keep it short and interesting, and spark some great questions and discussions.
Appetizers (limited quantity) will be provided compliments of our sponsor CBU's Petroleum Applications of Wireless Systems (PAWS).  Cash bar is available.
TecSocial is free and welcomes anyone with an interest in entrepreneurship and technology.
